Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Central Division

The victim has been identified as Ryan Shamel Elliott (06/22/1996). The victim’s next of kin was notified of his death.
As a result of the continued investigation, detectives identified Joseph Sherman Crawford (03/06/1997) as a suspect. On Sunday, May 28, 2023, members of the CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) along with the Gastonia Police Department located and arrested Mr. Crawf
