Charlotte, N.C. – (Saturday, September 5, 2026) – The victim in this case has been identified as Elliot Rukwan Butler, 31. The victim’s family has been notified of his death.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Saturday, September 5, 2026) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation at the 1900 block of Mereview Court in the Steele Creek Division.
On Saturday, September 5, shortly before 3 a.m., officers responded to an Assist MEDIC call for service at the 1900 block of Mereview Court. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim with apparent gunshot wound. Medic pronounced the victim deceased on the scene.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command and Victim Services also responded to assist.
