Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Metro Division
Charlotte, N.C. – (Sunday, April 19, 2026) – The victim in this case has been identified as Zaquez Samprese Blakley, 24. The victim’s family has been notified of his death.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD's Public Affairs Office. Homicide Investigation in the Metro Division
Charlotte, N.C. – (Sunday, April 19, 2026) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s (CMPD) Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 2300 block of Dundeen Street in the Metro Division.
On Saturday, April 18, at approximately 8:44 p.m., officers responded to a Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling call for service in the 2300 block of Dundeen Street. Once officers arrived on scene, they conducted an investigation and determined that two individuals exchanged gunfire, during which at least one residence was struck. No injuries were reported in connection with the home that was shot into. One of the individuals involved in the shooting later arrived at the hospital by personal vehicle with a gunshot wound. This individual subsequently succumbed to their injuries.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence.
