Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Independence Division
Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, March 24, 2026) – The victim in this case has been identified as Savo Sinanovic, 75.
As a result of the continued investigation, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s (CMPD) Homicide Detectives identified Drazan Sinanovic, 51, as a suspect in this case. D. Sinanovic was interviewed by Homicide Detectives at the Law Enforcement Center (LEC). At the conclusion of the interview, he was transported to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and is charged with:
The victim’s next of kin has been notified of his death and this arrest.

Homicide Investigation in the Independence Division
Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, March 24, 2026) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 1200 block of Maple Shade Lane in the Independence Division.
On Tuesday, March 24, shortly before 3:30 p.m., officers responded to a Domestic Violence call for service in the 1200 block of Maple Shade Lane.
Upon arrival, officers located a male victim with life threatening injuries. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene by MEDIC. A person of interest has been detained.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, MEDIC and CFD also responded to assist.
