Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the South Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, October 18, 2023) – As a result of the continued investigation, detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit have identified and charged a suspect in this case.
On Monday, October 16, 2023, Jaydon Bakari Turay (DOB: 07/12/2002), was arrested and charged with the following:
- Murder
- Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle
- Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
The victim’s next of kin has been notified of the arrest.

Homicide Investigation in the South Division
Charlotte, N.C. – (Saturday, October 7, 2023) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 10500 block of Park Crossing Drive in the South Division.
On Saturday, October 7, 2023, shortly after 5:30 p.m., South Division officers responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon call for service in the 10500 block of Park Crossing Drive. Upon arrival, officers located a male with apparent gunshot wounds. This subject was transported by MEDIC to Atrium-Main with life-threatening injuries. Shortly after, a female subject arrived at Atrium-Pineville with a gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Investigations responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, MEDIC and the Charlotte Fire Department also assisted.
