Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the North Tryon Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, May 30, 2023) – As a result of the continued investigation into Mr. Weathers’ homicide, detectives identified Allen Scott Leach (DOB 01/24/2003), and Nevaeh De’Jah Deas (DOB 08/26/2003) as suspects. Detectives obtained warrants for their arrests. 

 

On May 30, 2023, during the morning hours, the CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) located and arrested both suspects without incident. The suspects were transported to the Law Enforcement Center (601 E. Trade St.) to speak with homicide detectives. At the conclusion of the interviews, the suspects were transferred into the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.

 

At this time, Mr. Leach is charged with Murder, Attempted Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, and Promoting Prostitution.

 

Ms. Deas is charged with Murder, Attempted Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, and Misdemeanor Prostitution.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Saturday, July 16, 2022) – The victim in this case has been identified as Lamar Kyle Weathers (DOB 11/03/1983). The family of the victim has been notified of his death.

Homicide Investigation in the North Tryon Division

 

Charlotte, N.C. – (Saturday, July 16, 2022) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation near the 6400 block of North Tryon Street in the North Tryon Division.

 

On Saturday, July 16, 2022, shortly after midnight, North Tryon Division officers responded to an assist Medic call for service in the 6400 block of North Tryon Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim with a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene by Medic.

 

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Homicide Prosecution Team, Medic, and the Charlotte Fire Department also assisted.
