Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Metro Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, June 6, 2023) – As a result of the continued investigation, detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit have identified two additional suspects in connection to this case.

 

On Wednesday, May 31, 2023, CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) arrested two 16-year-old suspects for their involvement in the murder of Quantarrius Sturdivant. One juvenile has been charged with Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery and Murder.  The other juvenile has been charged with Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery, Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and Murder.  Both suspects have been transported to a juvenile detention facility.

 

The victim’s family has been notified of the arrests.

The juvenile has been charged with Murder, Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon. The juvenile has been transported to a juvenile detention facility.

Homicide Investigation in the Metro Division

 

Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, November 29, 2022) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 2300 block of Rachel Street in the Metro Division.

 

On Tuesday, November 29, shortly after 12:40 p.m., officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service in the 2300 block of Rachel Street.  Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim with a gunshot wound. MEDIC pronounced the victim deceased on scene.

 

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, CFD, MEDIC and the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Homicide Prosecution Team also assisted.
