Two in Custody after Shots Fired in the Central Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Sunday, June 14, 2026) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s (CMPD) Central Division are conducting an investigation into a Shots Fired Assault with a Deadly Weapon call for service near Romare Bearden Park.
On Sunday, June 14, around midnight, multiple officers were working in the area of Romare Bearden Park and were actively enforcing the City of Charlotte’s Curfew Ordinance when they heard multiple gunshots and responded to the location. Officers quickly located and began initial treatment for two subjects found to have sustained gunshot wounds. Officers then also quickly located and apprehended suspects related to the incident. MEDIC responded and transported the victims to local hospitals where they were treated for Non-Life Threatening Injuries.
A firearm was recovered on scene from one of the suspects.
Detectives from the Central Division responded to conduct an investigation. Crime Scene Search also responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command and the Charlotte Fire Department also assisted.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD’s Public Affairs Division.
