Teacher Charged in Sexual Activity with a Student Investigation

Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, May 21, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Sexual Assault Unit have arrested and charged a teacher employed by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools with Sexual Activity with a Student by a Teacher.

 

On Monday, May 20, 2024, a School Resource Officer at Olympic High School was notified of a potential inappropriate relationship between an 18-year-old male student and a female teacher at the school.  Detectives with the CMPD’s Sexual Assault Unit responded to the school to conduct the investigation.

 

Detectives interviewed the suspect at the school and subsequently placed her under arrest. She was transported to the Law Enforcement Center (LEC) in Uptown (601 E. Trade St) for further interview. 

 

Olivia Dennis, 28, was arrested for three counts of Sexual Activity with a Student by a Teacher and has been transferred into the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.  None of the alleged acts are believed to have occurred on school property.
