Teacher Charged in Indecent Liberties with a Student Investigation

Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, March 13, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Sexual Assault Unit have arrested and charged a teacher employed by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools with Taking Indecent Liberties with a Student.

 

On Tuesday, March 12, 2024, detectives with the CMPD’s Sexual Assault Unit were notified by School Resource Officers at Harding University High School of a potential inappropriate relationship between a 17-year-old male student and a teacher. 

 

Detectives were able to speak voluntarily with the juvenile victim and later interviewed the suspect at the Law Enforcement Center (LEC) in Uptown (601 E. Trade St). At the conclusion of the interview, detectives obtained an arrest warrant against the suspect.

 

In the morning hours of Wednesday, March 13, 2024, Jasmine Wooten, 25, a teacher at Harding University High School, was arrested and charged without incident.  Ms. Wooten was transferred into the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with Taking Indecent Liberties with a Student.
