Update: Ms. Oates has been located safely in Cleveland County. She is being evaluated and reunited with family.
Public's Assistance Requested in Missing Person Investigation
Charlotte, N.C. – (Sunday, January 7, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Missing Person Unit are requesting the public’s assistance in locating 70-year-old Virginia May Oates.
Ms. Oates was last seen at her family’s residence in the 6000 block of Raintree Way on Saturday, January 6, 2024. She was last seen leaving in her 2010 black Toyota Corolla with North Carolina license tag number: ZSF-1579.
Ms. Oates may be suffering from a cognitive impairment and a silver alert has been issued.
Ms. Oates was last seen wearing a pink jogger suit, a denim bank of America bucket hat, and sketchers shoes.
Anyone with information on Oates’ whereabouts is asked to call 9-1-1 immediately.
