Public's Assistance Requested in Missing Person Investigation

Charlotte, N.C. – (Sunday, December 21, 2025) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Missing Person Unit are requesting the public’s assistance in locating 69-year-old James Elbert Harris.

Mr. Harris was last seen in the 8800 block of N Tryon Street in Charlotte on December 21, 2025, at around 3:30 pm. Mr. Harris may be experiencing cognitive impairment and may be lost or confused. Mr. Harris was last seen wearing a gray tracksuit, white sneakers and a black jacket. He is believed to be on foot.  

Anyone with information on Smith’s whereabouts is asked to call 9-1-1 immediately.
