Public’s Assistance Requested in Aggravated Assault Investigation

Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, December 12, 2023) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s University City Division are requesting the public’s assistance in locating a suspect wanted in an aggravated assault investigation.

 

On Monday, December 11, 2023, at approximately 8:24 p.m., University City Division officers responded to the 10500 block of Atkins Ridge Drive after a report of multiple shots fired in the area. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim with multiple apparent gunshot wounds lying in the roadway. The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was at a home in the area to purchase marijuana.  As the victim attempted to leave, a male subject approached the victim’s vehicle and fired multiple rounds.  The victim exited his vehicle and ran across the street to nearby homes in an attempt to seek help.

 

MEDIC transported the victim to Atrium Health Main with life-threatening injuries.

 

Detectives with the CMPD’s University City Division, along with the Crime Scene Search responded to the hospital and the incident location to conduct their investigation.  A substantial amount of marijuana was recovered at the scene, along with shell casings and a live round ammunition.
