Public’s Assistance Requested in Locating Homicide Suspect
Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) are requesting the public's assistance in locating Jesus Narvaez Hernandez, 17.
On Sunday, September 7, shortly after 2:45 a.m., officers responded to reports of gun shots in the 200 block of Atando Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered two victims with apparent gunshot wounds. One victim was pronounced deceased on scene by MEDIC. The other victim was transported to a hospital by MEDIC with life threatening injuries. An additional victim self-transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
As a result of the continued investigation, detectives identified Mr. Hernandez as a suspect in this case and obtained a warrant for his arrest on the charge of Murder.
CMPD’s VCAT unit began apprehension efforts for Mr. Hernandez and are now seeking the public’s assistance. He is a hispanic male, approximately 5’7” and weighs approximately 150 pounds.

Mr. Figueroa’s next of kin has been notified of his death.

On Sunday, September 7, shortly after 2:45 a.m., officers responded to reports of gun shots in the 200 block of Atando Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered two victims with apparent gunshot wounds. One victim was pronounced deceased on scene by MEDIC. The other victim was transported to a hospital by MEDIC with life threatening injuries. An additional victim self-transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search (CSS) responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, the Charlotte Fire Department and MEDIC also assisted.
