Case Update: Officer-Involved Shooting in the Metro Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, February 8, 2024) – The armed subject who fled from officers and is now in custody has been identified as Timothy Deangelo Moore (DOB: 11/24/1990). 

Mr. Moore is being charged with:

  • Possession of a Firearm by Felon
  • Resist, Delay, Obstruct (RDO)
  • Carrying a Concealed Weapon

The investigation is being conducted by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (NCSBI). All further inquiries should be directed to the NCSBI. Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, February 8, 2024) – The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting in the 2100 block of Beatties Ford Road in the Metro Division.

 

On Thursday, February 8, 2024, shortly before 10:45 a.m., officers observed what they perceived to be a drug transaction between two individuals in a parking lot in the 2100 block of Beatties Ford Road. Officers clearly observed one subject possessing a firearm. Officers approached and the subject possessing the firearm fled on foot. The armed subject produced the firearm from his waistband and swung the firearm away from his body while attempting to flee. Preliminary information indicates that officers perceived an imminent and deadly threat and one officer fired their service weapon, striking the subject. The officers on scene immediately began rendering life-saving measures before MEDIC arrived. MEDIC transported the subject to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

 

No officers were injured in the incident.

 

North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (NCSBI) responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence.  CMPD's Crime Scene Investigation, Operations Command, Victim Services, Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, Medic, and CFD also responded.

 

As is standard procedure with any officer involved shooting, the Internal Affairs Bureau will conduct a separate but parallel investigation.
