Fatal Vehicle Crash in the Freedom Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, Sept. 26, 2025) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s (CMPD) Major Crash Investigation Unit are investigating a fatal vehicle crash in the Freedom Division.
On Tuesday, Sept. 23, Freedom Division officers responded to a crash with personal injury call for service in the 3500 block of Sam Wilson Rd. Upon arrival, officers located a Hyundai Elantra on the shoulder of the roadway with heavy damage. The driver, Jaquavias Deshawn Holley, 24, and two other passengers were located inside the vehicle. Officers also located a Hyundai Tucson with damage to the driver’s side of the vehicle that was occupied by a single driver.
MEDIC transported Holley to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and the two passengers who suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
On Wednesday, Sept. 24, Holley was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the Hyundai Elantra was driving at a high rate of speed when the Elantra struck the Hyundai Tucson, lost control and rolled the vehicle.
No individual is charged in relation to the crash.
