Homicide Investigation in the Freedom Division

 

Charlotte, N.C. – (Sunday, September 7, 2025) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s (CMPD) Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 4000 block of Queen City Drive in the Freedom Division.

 

On Sunday, September 7, shortly after 1:15 a.m., officers responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon call for service in the 4000 block of Queen City Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the local hospital by MEDIC where he was pronounced deceased shortly thereafter. Currently, there are no individuals being pursued in connection with this case. 

 

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search (CSS) responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, the Charlotte Fire Department and MEDIC also assisted.

 

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD's Public Affairs Division.
