Homicide Investigation in the North Tryon Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2025) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s (CMPD) Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation regarding an incident that occurred in the 300 block of Orchard Trace Lane in the North Tryon Division.
On Monday, July 7, CMPD officers responded to the 300 block of Orchard Trace Lane in reference to an assist MEDIC call for service. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive 9-month-old infant. MEDIC transported the infant to the Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center where the infant was later pronounced deceased.
At this point, CMPD Homicide Detectives responded to investigate this death.
On Monday, Aug. 11, CMPD Homicide Detectives were contacted by the North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office and were informed the cause of death was related to Fentanyl.
On Monday, Sept. 1, Homicide Detectives signed warrants for the arrest of Hallie Ingram, 35, in connection to this case.
On Tuesday, Sept. 2, Ingram was located and arrested by CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT). Ingram was later transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office. Ingram is charged with Murder and Felony Child Abuse.
The victim’s next of kin has been notified of this death and arrest.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD's Public Affairs Office.
