Fatal Pedestrian Crash Investigation in the South Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2025) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Major Crash Investigation Unit are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian in the South Division.
On Tuesday, Aug. 12 at approximately 10:32 p.m., officers responded to a motor vehicle crash with injuries involving a pedestrian in the 11600 block of North Community House Road. Upon arrival, officers located a pedestrian, Vidal Zinczuk Jr., 45, in the roadway with life-threatening injuries and a Chevrolet Express van with damage to the front-end located near the injured pedestrian. MEDIC responded and pronounced Mr. Zinczuk deceased on scene.
Detectives with the Major Crash Investigation Unit and DWI Task Force responded to the scene to conduct their investigation. Members of Crime Scene Search (CSS) responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Charlotte Fire and MEDIC also responded to the scene.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of the Chevrolet Express van was driving north on North Community House Road when the vehicle struck Zinczuk who was walking across North Community House Road.
The driver of the Chevrolet was not injured in the crash. Toxicology results are pending for the Mr. Zinczuk.
Mr. Zinczuk’s next of kin has been notified of his death.
The investigation into this crash is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD’s Public Affairs Office.
