Fatal Vehicle Crash in the Hickory Grove Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, June 19, 2025) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s (CMPD) Major Crash Investigation Unit are investigating a fatal vehicle crash in the Hickory Grove Division.

On Wednesday, June 18, at approximately 5:38 p.m., Hickory Grove Division officers responded to a vehicle collision with injuries call for service in the 8000 block of Albemarle Road. The Charlotte Fire Department and MEDIC also responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, officers located a Nissan with heavy damage to the front right passenger side of the vehicle and a motorcycle with extensive damage in the east bound lanes of Albemarle Road. Nearby the motorcycle, officers located its driver, Jonathan Dee Davis, 37, lying in the roadway.

Mr. Davis was pronounced deceased on scene. MEDIC transported the driver of the Nissan to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives with the Major Crash Investigation Unit, Crime Scene Search (CSS) and Medical Examiners Office responded to the scene to conduct their investigation and collect physical evidence. 

Excessive speed of the motorcycle is a suspected factor. Impairment is unknown pending toxicology results. There are no charges in this case at this time.

Mr. Davis’s next of kin has been notified of his death.
