Fatal Vehicle Crash in the Steele Creek Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, June 10, 2025) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Major Crash Investigation Unit are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision in the Steele Creek Division.
On Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Steele Creek Division officers responded to a motor vehicle crash with injuries in the 9800 block of South Blvd. Upon arrival, officers located a Dodge Challenger and its operator, Michael Wayne Bolton, 70, and an unresponsive male pedestrian, Denver Lee Craven, 49. Charlotte Fire and MEDIC responded to the scene. Mr. Craven was transported to Atrium Main and later pronounced deceased.
Detectives with the Major Crash Investigation Unit and Crime Scene Search (CSS) responded to the scene and began their investigation.
Speed and impairment are not suspected in this incident. There are no charges at this time.
Next of kin has been notified of the victim’s death.
