Homicide Investigation in the Steele Creek Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, May 7, 2025) – As a result of this continued investigation in the death of Mykel Raymone Washington, 26, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) detectives identified Terrence Richardson, 37, and obtained warrants for his arrest.
On Tuesday, May 6, CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) and CMPD SWAT located and arrested Richardson.
Richardson was later transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
Richardson is charged with First Degree Murder and two counts of Attempted First Degree Murder.
Mr. Washington’s next of kin has been notified of this case update.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Monday, May 5, 2025) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s (CMPD) Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 300 block of Archdale Drive in the Steele Creek Division.
On Monday, May 5, shortly after 3:45 p.m., officers responded to a shots-fired call for service in the 300 block of Archdale Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered multiple victims with gunshot wounds. One of the victims was pronounced deceased on scene by officers. Two victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, CFD and MEDIC also assisted.
