Fatal Pedestrian Crash Investigation in the Westover Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Monday, April 21, 2025)– Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s (CMPD) Major Crash Investigation Unit are investigating a fatal collision involving a train and a pedestrian in the Westover Division.

On Saturday, April 19, 2025, at approximately 1:18 p.m., Westover Division officers responded to an accident with personal injury call for service near the 1300 block of Archdale Road.

Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive pedestrian on the east side of the train tracks with life-threatening injuries.

Detectives with the Major Crash Investigation Unit, Medical Examiner’s Office Investigator and Crime Scene Search (CSS) responded to the scene and to conduct the investigation.

The initial investigation indicates the pedestrian was walking northbound on the train tracks when he was struck by a southbound Norfolk Southern train. MEDIC pronounced the pedestrian, Wilfredo Negron, 49, deceased on scene at 1:24 p.m.

Mr. Negron’s next of kin has been notified of his death.
