Homicide Investigation in the Central Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, January 23, 2025) – The victim in this case has been identified as Matthias Crockett, 15.

As a result of the continued investigation, Central Division officers arrived on scene and identified Keshawn Boyd, 27, as a suspect.

Officers transported Boyd to the Law Enforcement Center (LEC) where he was interviewed by homicide detectives.

At the conclusion of this interview, Boyd was arrested and transferred into the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.

Boyd is charged with Murder.

Mr. Crockett’s next of kin has been notified of his death and this arrest.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, January 22, 2025) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 400 block of West 8th Street in the Central Division.

On Wednesday, January 22, shortly after 6:30 p.m., officers responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon call for service in the 400 block of West 8th Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim who had multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene by MEDIC.
