Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Westover Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Saturday, June 20, 2026) – As a result of the continued investigation, detectives have identified Tawaun Emier Lee, 30, as the suspect in connection to this case.
On Monday, June 22, CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) located and arrested Lee.
Lee was brought to the Law Enforcement Center (LEC) where he was interviewed by homicide detectives. At the conclusion of the interviews, Lee was transported to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
Lee is charged with Murder.
Ms. Latimore's next of kin has been notified of this arrest.

The victim’s next of kin has been notified of her death.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, June 19, 2026) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s (CMPD) Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 1100 block of Scaleybark Road in the Westover Division.
On Friday, June 19, shortly after 9:15 p.m., officers responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon call for service in the 1100 block of Scaleybark Road. Upon arrival, officers located a person with life-threatening injuries. The individual was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation. Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, Charlotte Fire Department (CFD) and MEDIC also assisted.
