CMPD Officer Charged with Assault on a Female and Misdemeanor Crime of Domestic Violence
Charlotte, N.C. - (March 27, 2026) – The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) is conducting a criminal investigation which has resulted in charges of Assault on a Female and Misdemeanor Crime of Domestic Violence against CMPD Officer Ryan T. Clement.
On Thursday, March 26, 2026, the CMPD’s Domestic Violence Unit received a complaint regarding an ongoing domestic violence situation reported to have been occurring over the past week. All parties involved were voluntarily interviewed and at the conclusion of those interviews, the information was presented to the Mecklenburg County Magistrate. A criminal summons was issued for Assault on a Female and Misdemeanor Crime of Domestic Violence against Officer Clement.
Officer Clement was off duty when the incident occurred.
CMPD Internal Affairs is conducting a simultaneous investigation. Officer Clement is currently on unpaid administrative leave pending the outcome of the internal investigation.
Officer Clement was hired on May 28, 2024, and is currently assigned to the Metro Division.
