Homicide Investigation in the Eastway Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s (CMPD) Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 4300 block of Central Avenue in the Eastway Division. 

On Saturday, Jan. 24, shortly after 3:30 a.m., officers responded to a shots fired call for service in the 4300 block of Central Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene. 

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Charlotte Fire Department, MEDIC and Victim Services assisted.

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by CMPD's Public Affairs Division.
