Successful Public Safety Operations for Uptown Celebrations

Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, January 1, 2026) – The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) successfully implemented a strategic operations plan to keep Uptown visitors safe during New Year’s Eve celebrations.  Thanks to these efforts, the night concluded without any major incidents within the event footprint which included Romare Bearden Park and Truist Field.

As part of enforcement actions, officers made two arrests involving one adult and one juvenile and seized two firearms.

  • The juvenile, 14 years old, is charged with Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Possession of a Stolen Firearm.
  • The adult, Mikhi Jackson, 18, is charged with Carrying a Concealed Weapon.
