Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Freedom Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Sunday, Oct. 19, 2025) – As a result of the continued investigation, detectives identified the suspect in this case as Andre Tyrell Walker, 44, and obtained warrants for his arrest.

On Sunday, Oct. 19, Walker was located and arrested by officers in CMPD’s North Division. Walker was transported to the Law Enforcement Center (LEC) where he was interviewed by detectives. Upon completion of the interview, Walker was transported to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.

Walker has been charged with:

  • Murder

Mr. Neal’s next of kin has been notified of his death.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Sunday, Oct. 19, 2025) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s (CMPD) Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 4600 block of Wilkinson Boulevard in the Freedom Division.

On Sunday, Oct. 19, around 1:25 a.m., off-duty officers working in the 4600 block of Wilkinson Boulevard responded to the sound of shots fired in the parking lot. Officers discovered a male victim who sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene by MEDIC. 

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, Charlotte Fire Department and MEDIC also assisted.
