Homicide Investigation in the Westover Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Saturday, August 22, 2026) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 1600 block of Montford Drive in the Westover Division.
On Saturday, August 22, shortly after 1 a.m., officers responded to a Assault with a Deadly Weapon with injury call for service in the 1600 block of Montford Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered one victim with life-threatening injuries who had sustained a gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to a local hospital by MEDIC before they were pronounced deceased by medical staff. Detectives have identified all parties believed to be involved and are not currently looking for any additional suspects.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services and CFD also responded to assist.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD's Public Affairs Office.
