Homicide Investigation in the Westover Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Sunday, January 11, 2026) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation on I-77 near Remount Road in the Westover Division.

On Sunday, January 11, shortly after 12:00 a.m., officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service in the 1000 block of Vail Road.  Upon arrival, officers spoke with hospital officials at Atrium Health Mercy and were informed of a victim with a life-threatening gunshot wound who was transported to Atrium Main where he was pronounced deceased. Officers were also notified of two additional victims at Novant main with gunshot wounds that are in serious condition.

The deceased victim in this case has been identified as Trevohn Maleek Marshall, 20. The victim’s family has been notified of his death.

Homicide Unit detectives and Westover Division detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, CFD and MEDIC also responded to assist.

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD's Public Affairs Office.
