Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the University City Division 

 

Charlotte, N.C. – (Saturday, March 2, 2024) The victim in this case has been identified as 17-year-old Jorden Anthony Wood. The victim’s next of kin has been notified of his death.

 

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD’s Public Affairs Office. Homicide Investigation in the University City Division

 

Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, March 1, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 8100 Old Mallard Creek Road in the University City Division.

 

On Friday, March 1, 2024, at approximately 6:32 p.m., officers responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon call for service in the 8100 Old Mallard Creek Road. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim with an apparent gunshot wound. The Charlotte Fire Department and Medic also responded to the scene.  CMPD officers pronounced the victim deceased on the scene.

 

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search also responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, the Charlotte Fire Department and Medic also responded.
