Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Steele Creek Division

 

Charlotte, N.C. – (Saturday, February 10, 2024) – As a result of the continued investigation, detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit identified and obtained arrest warrants for a suspect in connection to this case.

 

On Friday, February 9, 2024, the CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) arrested Shawn Taliesin Davis Jr (DOB: 02/26/1994) and transported him to the Law Enforcement Center in Uptown (601 E. Trade St.) to be interviewed by detectives.  At the conclusion of the interview, Mr. Davis was transferred into the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with the following:

 

  • First Degree Murder
  • Attempted First Degree Murder
  • Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon (2 counts)
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
  • Discharging a Firearm into Occupied Property (3 counts)

 

The victim’s next of kin have been notified of the arrest.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, December 28, 2023) – The victim in this case has been identified as Murahnee Johnson (DOB: 06/21/2006). The victim’s next of kin has been notified of his death.

Homicide Investigation in the Steele Creek Division

 

Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, December 27, 2023) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 16200 block of Long Talon Way in the Steele Creek Division.

 

On Wednesday, December 27, 2023, shortly after 2:30 a.m., Steele Creek Division officers responded to a shots fired call in the 16200 block of Long Talon Way. Upon arrival, officers discovered two victims with apparent gunshot wounds. One victim was pronounced deceased on scene by MEDIC. Another victim was transported by MEDIC to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Upon the initial investigation, officers also discovered an occupied residence was shot into. No one inside in the residence was struck by gunfire.

 

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services and MEDIC also assisted.
