Homicide Investigation in the Steele Creek Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, Nov. 6, 2025) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s (CMPD) Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 800 block of Farmhurst Drive in the Steele Creek Division.

On Sunday, Nov. 2, officers responded to a Domestic Assault call for service in the 800 block of Farmhurst Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered a female victim who stated she had been physically assaulted by her boyfriend. The victim declined to be transported to the hospital. Officers obtained warrants for Arnold Noe Santos Deras, 21, for Assault on a Female, Misdemeanor Crime of Domestic Violence and Battery of Unborn Child.

On Monday, Nov. 3, Homicide Unit detectives were contacted by the Mecklenburg County Medical Examiner notifying them that victim had received medical treatment at a local hospital, where she had given birth to a 15-week-old stillborn fetus. Detectives began an investigation.

On Thursday, Nov. 6, Santos Deras turned himself in to CMPD’s Eastway Division. Santos Deras was interviewed by detectives then transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with the following:

  • Breaking and Entering
  • Assault on a Female
  • Misdemeanor Crime of Domestic Violence
  • Battery of an Unborn Child
  • Assault by Strangulation
  • Murder of an Unborn Child

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD's Public Affairs Division.
