Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Steele Creek Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, September 26, 2025) – The victim in this case has been identified as Tiara Love Tori Jackson, 37.
As a result of the continued investigation, and with the assistance from the Steele Creek and Westover Divisions, detectives identified Darris Dee Marshall, 33, as a suspect and warrants were obtained for his arrest.
Shortly after this incident took place, Westover Division officers responded to the report of a shooting at another location where they located Marshall suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. He was taken into custody and transported to a medical center for treatment.
Following his release from the hospital and an interview with detectives at CMPD’s Law Enforcement Center (LEC), Marshall was transferred into the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
Marshall has been charged with:
- Murder
- Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
Ms. Jackson’s next of kin has been notified of her death and this case update.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, Sept. 26, 2025) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s (CMPD) Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 1600 block of Deboer Avenue in the Steele Creek Division.
On Friday, Sept. 26, at approximately 9:21 a.m., officers responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Injury call for service in the 1600 block of Deboer Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim with gunshot wounds. MEDIC pronounced the victim deceased on scene.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation. Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Charlotte Fire Department and MEDIC also assisted
