Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the South Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, December 13, 2023) – The victim in this case has been identified as Brandy Cox (DOB: 07/13/1987).  The victim’s next of kin has been notified of her death.

 

Detectives with the CMPD’s Homicide Unit have identified and interviewed all parties involved in connection to this case and still actively investigating the incident.

Homicide Investigation in the South Division

  

Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, December 12, 2023) Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 4000 block of Meadowridge Drive in the South Division.

 

On Tuesday, December 12, 2023, shortly after 9:15 p.m., officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to the 4000 block of Meadowridge Drive for an Assault with a Deadly Weapon call for service. Upon arrival, officers located two victims who had sustained gunshot wounds. One female victim was pronounced deceased on the scene. One male victim was transported by MEDIC to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

 

Officers located a person of interest on scene and transported that person to the Law Enforcement Center in Uptown.  At this time, officers are not currently looking for any other suspects.

 

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Investigations responded to process the scene.  Representatives from the CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, MEDIC and the Charlotte Fire Department also assisted.
