Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the North Tryon Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, February 29, 2024) – As a result of this continued investigation, detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit have charged two juveniles as suspects in this case.

 

On Wednesday, February 28, 2024, both juveniles were arrested by CMPD’s Violent Crime Apprehension Team (VCAT) and transported to the Law Enforcement Center in Uptown (601 E. Trade St.) to be interviewed by detectives. At the conclusion of the interview, detectives obtained two secure custody orders and transported both suspects to the Juvenile Detention Facility in Cabarrus County. 

 

The 17-year-old was charged with:

  • Murder
  • Conspiracy to commit Murder
  • Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill, Inflicting Serious Injury (ADWIKISI)
  • Conspiracy to commit Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill, Inflicting Serious Injury (ADWIKISI)

 

The 16-year-old was charged with: 

  • Murder
  • Conspiracy to commit Murder
  • Conspiracy to commit Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill, Inflicting Serious Injury (ADWIKISI)

Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, January 17, 2024) – The deceased victim in this case has been identified as Daikwan Jedarren Deese (DOB 11/20/2006). Deese’s next of kin has been notified of his death.

Homicide Investigation in the North Tryon Division

 

Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, January 16, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 3700 block of Audrey Street in the North Tryon Division. 

 

On Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at approximately 2:38 p.m., North Tryon Division officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon with injury call for service in the 3700 block of Audrey Street. Upon arrival, officers located two male victims with apparent gunshot wounds. The Charlotte Fire Department and MEDIC also responded to the scene.  MEDIC pronounced one victim deceased on scene and transported the other victim to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

 

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives of CMPD’s Operations Command and Victim Services also assisted.
