Homicide Investigation in the North Tryon Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, June 27, 2025) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s (CMPD) Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 1000 block of Merrick Street in the North Tryon Division.

On Thursday, June 26, shortly before 11:30 p.m., officers responded to multiple 911 calls related to shots fired in the 1000 block of Merrick Street. The investigation revealed that one individual had sustained a gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased at the scene by MEDIC.

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, CFD and MEDIC also assisted.

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD's Public Affairs Division.
