Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the North Tryon Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026) – As a result of the continued investigation, detectives identified Donovan Denzel Davis, 34, as a suspect in connection to this case.
On Tuesday, Aug. 25, detectives obtained warrants for his arrest. Davis is charged with the following:
- Murder
- Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill
- Possession of Firearm by Felon
- Five counts of Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle
Davis is currently in federal custody in Virgina. Davis will be served with these warrants once extradited to Mecklenburg County.
The victim’s next of kin has been notified of this case update.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, February 10, 2026) –Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 100 block Atando Avenue in the North Tryon Division.
On Monday, February 9, shortly after 4 p.m., officers responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon call for service in the 100 block of Atando Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers discovered one victim with life-threatening injuries who had sustained an apparent gunshot wound. MEDIC transported the victim to a local hospital.
On Tuesday, February 10, Bradley Reid, 37, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Mr. Reid’s next of kin has been notified of his death.
Homicide Unit detectives are now handling the investigation.
