Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Metro Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Monday, February 26, 2024) – As a result of the continued the investigation, detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit have charged a suspect in connection to this case.
Detectives have charged Sammy Lee Jeter, 28, with Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill and Possession of a Firearm by Felon. The victim’s next of kin has been notified of the arrest.
Detectives are not currently looking for additional suspects in connection to this case.

Homicide Investigation in the Metro Division
Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, February 16, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 2600 block of Catalina Avenue.
On Friday, February 16, 2024, at approximately 3:21 p.m., Metro Division officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon with injury call for service near the 2600 block of Catalina Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim with an apparent gunshot wound. The Charlotte Fire Department and MEDIC also responded to the scene. MEDIC transported the victim to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives of CMPD’s Operations Command, MEDIC and the Charlotte Fire Department also assisted.
