Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Metro Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Monday, February 5, 2024) – The victim in this case has been identified as Rudolph Acolstse (DOB: 11/29/1975).

 

As a result of assistance from the community, upon officers’ arrival on scene, they were directed to the suspect responsible for the shooting incident.  The suspect was immediately taken into custody without incident and transported to the Law Enforcement Center in Uptown (601 E. Trade St.) to speak with homicide detectives.  At the conclusion of the interview, the suspect, Ronald Joseph (DOB: 03/08/1978), was transferred into the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with Murder.

 

The victim’s next of kin has been notified of the victim’s death and the arrest.

 

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD’s Public Affairs Office. Homicide Investigation in the Metro Division

 

Charlotte, N.C. – (Monday, February 5, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 3500 block of Odum Avenue in the Metro Division.

 

On Sunday, February 4, shortly after 11:30 p.m., officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service in the 3500 block of Odum Avenue.  Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim with a gunshot wound. Medic pronounced the victim deceased on the scene. CMPD is not looking for any other suspects at this time.

 

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, CFD and Medic also assisted.
