Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Metro Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026) – As the result of the continued investigation, detectives identified three suspects in connection to this case and obtained warrants for their arrest.

On Tuesday, Feb. 24, CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) located and arrested Woodie Daniels III, 20, Domonique Battle, 19, and one juvenile.

Daniels and Battle were transported to the Law Enforcement Center (LEC) to interview with homicide detectives. At the conclusion of these interviews, Daniels and Battle were transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.

The juvenile interviewed with homicide detectives and was charged.

All three are charged with the following:

  • Murder
  • Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon
  • Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with Dangerous Weapon

 

The victim’s next of kin has been notified of these arrests.

Homicide Investigation in the Metro Division 

 

Charlotte, N.C. – (Sunday, April 7, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 2600 block of Druid Hills Way in the Metro Division.

On Sunday, April 7, shortly after 7:00 p.m., officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service in the 2600 block of Druid Hills Way. Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported by Medic to a local hospital, where the victim was later pronounced deceased.

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, CFD and Medic also assisted.
