Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Metro Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Monday, March 11, 2024) – As a result of this continued investigation, detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit have charged a 16-year-old juvenile suspect in connection to this case.

 

On Saturday, March 9, 2024, CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) located and arrested the juvenile suspect.  The suspect was then transported to the Law Enforcement Center (LEC) in Uptown (601 E. Trade St.) to be interviewed by detectives.  At the conclusion of the interview, detectives obtained a secure custody order and then placed the suspect in the custody of the North Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice.  The suspect was charged with the following:

  • Murder
  • Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon
  • Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon

 

The victim’s next of kin has been notified of the arrest.

Homicide Investigation in the Metro Division 

 

Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, February 1, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 2400 block of Pitts Drive in the Metro Division.

 

On Tuesday, February 1, shortly after 1:00 a.m., officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service in the 2400 block of Pitts Drive.  Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim with gunshot wounds. Medic pronounced the victim deceased on the scene.

 

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, CFD and Medic also assisted.
