Homicide Investigation in the Hickory Grove Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, February 19, 2026) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 7400 block of The Plaza in the Hickory Grove Division.
On Thursday, February 19, shortly before 4:30 p.m., officers responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon call for service in the 7400 block of The Plaza.
Upon arrival, officers discovered one victim who had sustained gunshot wounds. Officers pronounced the victim deceased on scene.
Officers detained a person of interest on scene.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, MEDIC and CFD also responded to assist.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD's Public Affairs Division.
