Homicide Investigation in the Freedom Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, March 22, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 3800 block of Brookshire Boulevard in the Freedom Division.

 

On Friday, March 22, 2024, shortly after 2:00 a.m., officers in the Freedom Division responded to an accident with personal injury call for service in the 3800 block of Brookshire Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim that had been struck by a vehicle. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene by officers. Upon further investigation, officers discovered the victim had injuries that were not consistent with the crash. Based on witness statements and additional evidence at the scene, preliminary information indicates that the victim was mortally wounded prior to collapsing in the street and then being run over a short time later.

 

Detectives with the Homicide Unit and detectives with the Major Crash Investigation Unit responded to the scene to conduct an investigation. Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives of CMPD’s Major Crash Unit, Operations Command, Victim Services, MEDIC and the Charlotte Fire Department also assisted.

 

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD’s Public Affairs Office.
