Homicide Investigation in the Freedom Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Wednesday, April 1, 2026) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s (CMPD) Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 10000 block of Florentine Way in the Freedom Division.

On Wednesday, April 1, at approximately 9:04 a.m., officers responded to a Breaking and Entering call for service in the 10000 block of Florentine Way. Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim who had sustained apparent gunshot wounds. MEDIC pronounced the victim deceased on scene.

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services and West Mecklenburg Fire Department responded to assist. 

Officers have identified all parties involved and are not looking for any additional persons of interest at this time.

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD's Public Affairs Division.
