Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Freedom Division

 

Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, March 7, 2024) – As a result of the continued investigation by detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit and with assistance of CMPD’s Crime Gun Suppression Team (CGST), a 17-year-old juvenile has been identified as a suspect in this case and warrants were obtained for the arrest.

 

During the evening hours of Wednesday, March 6, 2024, the juvenile suspect turned himself into the CMPD’s CGST at the Law Enforcement Center (LEC) and was then interviewed by homicide detectives.  At the conclusion of the interview, the juvenile suspect was placed in the custody of the North Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice and charged with the following:

 

  • Murder

 

The victim’s next of kin has been notified of the arrest.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, February 15, 2024) The victim in this case has been identified as Jaziyah Joseph Haigbea-Boone (DOB: 09/13/1999).  The victim’s next of kin has been notified of his death.

Homicide Investigation in the Freedom Division

 

Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, February 15, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 3800 block of Wilkinson Boulevard in the Freedom Division.

 

On Thursday, February 15, 2024, shortly before 12:30 a.m., Freedom Division officers responded to an Assist Medic call for service in the 3800 block of Wilkinson Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased on the scene.

 

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Investigations responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, MEDIC and the Charlotte Fire Department also assisted.
