Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Freedom Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Saturday, April 6, 2024) – As a result of the continued investigation, detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit have charged a suspect in connection to the murder of Cordarrell Houston.

On Saturday, April 6, 2024, the CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) located and arrested Maiseo Caldwell, 19, and Quavon Strother, 18.  Mr. Caldwell and Mr. Strother were transferred into the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with the following:

  • First Degree Burglary
  • Conspiracy Commit First Degree Burglary
  • Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon
  • Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon
  • First Degree Murder

The victim’s next of kin has been notified of the arrests.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, April 5, 2024) – The victim in this case has been identified as Cordarrell Houston, 36.  The victim’s next of kin has been notified of his death.

Homicide Investigation in the Freedom Division

 

Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, March 26, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 2300 block of Toddville Road in the Freedom Division.

 

On Tuesday, March 26 shortly after 5:00 a.m., officers responded to an assist medic call for service in the 2300 block of Toddville Road.  Medic transported the victim with life threatening injuries to Atrium-Main where the victim was pronounced deceased.

 

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, CFD and Medic also assisted.
