Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Freedom Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, April 26, 2024) – As a result of the continued investigation, detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit have identified and charged a 16-year-old juvenile suspect in connection to this case.

 

On Friday, April 26, 2024, detectives were granted a secure custody order for Murder.

 

With the assistance of the Rock Hill Police Department, the 16-year-old juvenile suspect was located in Rock Hill, South Carolina and taken into custody.  The juvenile is awaiting extradition back to Mecklenburg County. 

 

The victim’s next of kin has been notified of the arrest.

Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Freedom Division

 

Charlotte, N.C. – (Sunday, March 31, 2024) – The victim in this case has been identified as Fate Brannon, 17.  The victim’s next of kin has been notified of his death. 

On Saturday, March 30, 2024, Homicide Unit detectives located and arrested Marcus Dahn, 28, for an unrelated arrest warrant. Marcus Dahn was then transported to the Law Enforcement Center (LEC) in Uptown (601 E. Trade St.) to be interviewed by detectives.  At the conclusion of the interview, he was transferred into the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with the following:

•           1st Degree Murder

•           Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon

•           Felony Conspiracy

•           Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon (2x)

•           Possession of a Stolen Firearm

 

The victim’s next of kin has been notified of the arrest.

Charlotte, N.C. – (Friday, March 29, 2024) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 200 block of N. Hoskins Road in the Freedom Division.

 

On Friday, March 29, 2024, just before 2:30 p.m., officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon with injury call for service in the 200 block of N. Hoskins Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim with gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced deceased by officers.

 

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Investigations responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victims Services, MEDIC and the Charlotte Fire Department also assisted.
