Case Update: Homicide Investigation in the Freedom Division

Charlotte, N.C. – (Thursday, September 21, 2023) – The victim in this case has been identified as Kwandarrius De’Markeith Montaviu Howze (DOB: 03/14/1999).  The victim’s next of kin has been notified of his death.

 

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD’s Public Affairs Office. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 704-432-8477(TIPS) and speak directly to a Homicide Unit detective. Homicide Investigation in the Freedom Division  

 

Charlotte, N.C. – (Tuesday, September 21, 2023) – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 100 block of Park Fairfax Drive in the Freedom Division.

 

On Thursday, September 21, at approximately 5:38 a.m., Freedom Division officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon with injury call for service in the 100 block of Park Fairfax Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim with apparent gunshot wounds.  The Charlotte Fire Department and MEDIC also responded to the scene.  The victim was pronounced deceased on the scene by CMPD.

 

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, CFD and MEDIC also assisted.
